About Us

The Northeast Georgia Writers Club (aka “NEGA Writers”) has been in Gainesville for fifty years (as of 2023). This group meets monthly to hear speakers and learn about the craft of writing. It is a group for writing enthusiasts. If you are new to writing, this is the place to start.

The Northeast Georgia Literary Society’s Authors’ Social Club (aka “Authors’ Social”) group is a monthly social event in which authors and other interested parties can network, share news, and find resources within the NEGA writing community.

The Northeast Georgia Literary Society Writers Guild (aka “the Guild”) is for writers who are serious about publishing and selling their books.

The Northeast Georgia Literary Society Critique Source Group (aka “Critique Groups”) is for you if you want to get your work critiqued by other writers and learn how to avoid common pitfalls that hurt your writing.

The above groups are guided, supported, and coordinated by the Northeast Georgia Literary Society Board. All the board members are active participants in the other groups.

The NGLS Board is the coordinating group of the Society.
Some of its activities are:

  • Help authors find what’s available in the Society and the right place for themselves in the Society, based on their aspirations and commitment levels.

  • Coordinate events between the Society and other community venues(The Hall County Public Library system, The Quinlan Center for the Visual Arts, etc.).

  • Establish a resource website that is highly usable to serve the Northeast Georgia Writer community.
